Instead of covering the DNCC, an lolcat was in order.

Dennis Kucinich’s speech was awesome though. As was Michelle Obama’s and Hilary’s tonight. Anyway. Worked 12 hours today. Au revoir.

Triple Pun!

posted by corey | August 6th, 2008 11:24 pm

Wrap your head around this:

Three brothers bought a ranch in Texas and planned to raise cattle. They couldn’t think of a name for their ranch so they asked their mother, who said, “You should name it ‘Focus.’” The brothers were puzzled. “Why?” they asked. “Because,” said their mother, “‘Focus’ is where the sun’s rays meet.”

If you need help understanding this, allow me to be of assistance. I didn’t get it the first time either.

OK so triple pun: “‘Focus’ is where the sun’s rays meet.”

Freaking mindblowing.

Also, on ICHC they’re having a lolcat olympics of sort, with the nom-i-knees for bronze up now. Check it out! Those are pretty damn hilarious, I can’t wait to see silver and gold.

Anyway, busy with work and things so sorry about scant updates. I do graphic design 8 hours a day at a desk so I don’t feel like coming home and sitting in front of a computer most of the time. All apologies. And Maggie is SLACKING off not doing her art of the week. And she’s on summer vacation! But alright. Until next time.

EDIT: Completely free Obama buttons available here. via moveon.org. Free shipping and all. Super duper.

Home Again

posted by corey | July 28th, 2008 11:33 pm

When I say home, I suppose I just mean Georgia. Sleeping on my parents couch just doesn’t have that homey appeal. I’m just telling myself its short term (it is) until I get going at my new job (which I start tomorrow). I don’t know how many of my imaginary readers out there have ever lived.. transiently, or without a room or personal space, but take it from me, it’s a drag. This all boils down to: I’m homesick for a place that doesn’t exist. That sounds a little bizarre and existential but it’s truth. This is my home right now, but any personal possessions I have have to fit in a dresser drawer or messenger bag. Sigh.

/self-pity

Anyway, my Jersey jaunt was nice. We saw The Daily Show last Wednesday (link is to episode, listen for my laugh. it sounds like this: ha ha). I got some rays at the world’s most dangerous beach, Point Pleasant (link is to possibly real or not picture of the stupid-big waves there). I also spent about 942 hours in some form of transportation limbo (Planes, trains, and automobiles. Seriously. Delayed, canceled, and lost. Seriously.) But overall, a nice trip. I’ll take responsibility for the art of the week not being up last week, since I was distracting Maggie. Maybe. Regardless.

I start my new job tomorrow. Just training but yeah. Rambling is my cue to hit the door. I hope to get the menu redone and spiffed to look good across all browsers soon. I’m also planning on learning Flash for my new job, and maybe i can parlay some of that skill over to the yeroc. I’ve also added underline to links in posts, to make them stand out a bit more. I’ve upped the leading (or line-height) to hopefully make the posts more readable. Added meta tags o’plenty. That’s actually a lot of stuff. How about that.

Finally, there’s been a bit of buzz that I’m catching the tail end of, over the new search engine started by ex-google employees, Cuil.com (pronounced “cool”). It doesn’t seem that cool to me, but with the utter search engine dominance google has right now, I applaud any newcomer to the arena. It’s still new, buggy, and kinda stupid. But it’s also pretty, different, and very diamond-in-the-rough-y. But a pretty rough. Lots of buzz though. Kinda no results for yeroc.org. Weird. Even results for culi are.. mixed at best. Reaction here, here, and of course here.

Finally II, I’m going to be switching from categories to tags on the site. I get kind of rambley so it’s hard to throw any post under one heading. In this post alone, I’ve talked about a few different things that are very different. So look for old posts to be cleaned up, and all new posts to be tagged, not categorized.

Finally III, I wish I had a bigger readership, but I don’t really know how to achieve that. I don’t wanna be like, HEY, READ MY BLOG! Cause I know I usually don’t find other peoples personal blogs too interesting, unless they’re like some international jet setter (which I am not) or have some brilliant insight into interesting topics (Brilliant would be a stretch para mi.) I don’t know. I don’t think my grammar, writing, or proofreading skills are really that off the charts so I don’t want to put my self out there, and sound like an idiot. Some discourse would be nice, that’s all. I enjoy talking to no one I suppose; I’ve been doing it on here awhile now.

Okay that’s it, seriously. Goodnight.

Factchecking Rocks

posted by corey | July 13th, 2008 12:31 am

I had this amazing post on how I finally had proof that people that vote Republican are stupid. It had numbers and everything. It was a hoax. Apparently, a lot of people fell for this, which means somehow I have more journalistic integrity than The Economist. Details here and here (snopes)

In other news, I have a job interview Monday at a local newspaper doing ad design/prepress. Wish me luck! I’ll also be moving, quitting my current job, and going to NJ in the next week or two as well, so updates might become scant. I apologize, people that don’t read this.

Since my IQ Voter Fuzzy Math Scandal turned out to be false, here’s an lolcat:

Whoa! Shut It Down

posted by corey | June 27th, 2008 6:03 am

I haven’t been working on the site at all recently. I saw Acacia Strain in South Carolina Thursday night. Pretty damn awesome.

I also purchased Final Fantasy III and New Super Mario Bros. for DS and they are a timesink.
And.. I’m lazy. But i have the menu basically laid out and the base of the site is valid XHTML and CSS. The posts seem to be something else altogether.

NASA has found ice on Mars, and they’ll be no ice at the North Pole this year, experts say. What a strange juxtaposition. What an amazingly clear sign that we’re ruining our planet. Sad quote from the article:

If it happens, it raises the prospect of the Arctic nations being able to exploit the valuable oil and mineral deposits below these a bed which have until now been impossible to extract because of the thick sea ice above.

Stupid thick sea ice in the way of my valuable oil! Why didn’t we just melt the stubborn ice and get that black gold out!?

To make up for no updates, heres an lolcat:
