All I Really Need to Know I Learned in My Spam Box

posted by corey | September 17th, 2008 11:59 am

By Spencer Green:

I am an average American.

The average credit score of an average American is 608.

I have a house mortgage.

I gamble-poorly-but want to do better.

I want to lose weight.

I’m holding between 25 and 30 pounds of fat in my intestines.

I dig Christian singles.

My perfect match is waiting for me somewhere in my hometown.

I could find her this week.

I want to start a home business and start making real money.

Easy work and great pay always go together.

Earning potential, unlike money, is unlimited.

The best things in life-meaning expensive electronics like BlackBerrys and MacBook Airs-are free.

For most things in life, only my confirmation is needed.

I want to learn magic and/or hypnosis to attract health, love, money, and to get revenge (the good kind).

There is always another last chance.

Qualifying for and winning awards doesn’t require anything-least of all knowing they exist.

Amazing secrets are hidden by nothing more than a mouse click.

I have two friends, Maureen and Angie, who talk about me daily.

Approval is guaranteed.

Obama Airing Unusual 2-minute Economy Plan Ad

posted by corey | September 17th, 2008 11:37 am

Well timed, I might add.

From Politico:

Sen. Barack Obama (D-Ill.) is airing an unusual two-minute TV ad about the economy, calling for “shared responsibility” and “real regulation” to rein in an “anything-goes culture on Wall Street.” The ad is part of the campaign’s effort to respond confidently and convincingly to this weekend’s financial meltdown. Two-minute ads are sometimes used in the opening or closing days of a campaign, but are rarely seen in the heat of the fall.

The ad begins running Wednesday on national cable stations, and will air in Florida and other battleground states - in some states, heavily.

Boombox from the Future

posted by corey | September 16th, 2008 11:21 pm

JVC Boombox of Death

This JVC optical-disc (DVD, CD — DiVx, MP3, etc) boombox looks looks more like a gundam or mechwarrior or something than a stereo. It’s a mere $261 USD, with free shipping here. It probably has a rocketpack in the back and flies to your home. Man you know at least one of those side things has to be a cannon. They really can’t ALL be speakers.

I can see it now. Transformers 3: Surrounded By Sound. 3 million of these worldwide go crazy and start putting out ultra deep bass followed by ear bursting highs. Only a 2008 Chevy Camaro can save us. This fall. Yadda yadda.

I remember as a kid these things getting more and more outrageous, evolving every Christmas to be bigger and.. less resembling of a music device. We’ve come a long way:

Old Boombox

RIP, normal music devices.

I’m tired. Real specs behind the cut if anyone is interested in owning this.. thing.

If you believe that, I’ve got a bridge in Alaska to sell you

posted by corey | September 15th, 2008 8:56 pm

From Ben Smith’s Blog:

“But now suddenly, John McCain says he is about change, too. He even started using some of my lines. Suddenly he says he wants ‘to turn the page.’ He had an ad today that he started running that he and Gov. Palin would bring the change that we need. He had this in an advertisement. Sound familiar? Let me tell you something, instead of borrowing my lines he needs to borrow our ideas,” Obama said.

He followed up with a dig at lobbyists, saying “..if you think those lobbyists are working day and night for John McCain just to put themselves out of business, well, then, I’ve got a bridge to sell you up in Alaska.”

Put it on the board - YES!

BREAKING: yeroc redesign

posted by corey | September 15th, 2008 8:27 pm

I’ve been on reddit/digg too long, any news is breaking news.

A psuedo-redesign is on the way. 3 columns. Featuring art from Shepard Fairey’s E Plurbis Venom exhibit. Not sure if he’d be happy about that. I own the book.. if that is any consolidation. And other goodies FOR NO ONE TO ENJOY. They’ll look back on this site in years and be like, he was so unappreciated. He was a revolutionary unheard.

No they won’t say that. He just talked to himself a lot.

I’ve read 4 Vonnegut books in a row. I’m starting to think Vonnegutian.
I just guess I wish I knew more members of my karass and had less granfaloons and foma.

EDIT: If anyone has been on recently (they haven’t) they might have caught a sneak peek or two of some new things coming. Ooooh, surprises. And the calendar is gone until the redesign is finished. New calendar coming so that one had to go for now. Night!

Tina Fey as Sarah Palin on SNL

posted by corey | September 14th, 2008 11:23 am

Oh man, she nailed it, big time. They both did, this was amazing. Very quotable.

“And your Tina Fey glasses!”

EDIT: NBC seems to be messing with the embed link. And of course it’s being yanked off youtube immediately. Here’s the link to NBC’s site, just in case.

Crazy Ayo (Technology) Cover

posted by corey | September 13th, 2008 11:56 pm

Belgian artist Milow has done a cover of 50 Cent and Justin Timerlake’s Ayo (Technology). Gets a little freaking weird towards the end.

This might actually be better than the original. The end is just a little too creepy. If it has some deeper meaning, it’s lost on me.
